game platforms

The platform that I like ideologically is Good Old Games (GOG).  Unfortunately, they've abandoned Linux.  A Linux version of their Galaxy client is the most-requested feature (currently at 23K requests), but it's had that "In Progress" status for about half a decade now.  They won't even update the status to tell us to go away.  Meanwhile, they recently announced Galaxy Client 2.0 (new! improved!) with a very noticeable exception (go away, Linux customers!).

So... as I promised GOG 2 years ago in a customer service ticket at their own site, I started spending my money at Steam, which has a very active Linux development strategy through their ProtonDB compatibility.

And... now Steam is having their summer sale. (I joined Team Hare, for the curious.)  I'm seeing 75% off on a lot of old favorites from many years ago, so I'm buying them up now.  These games were only ever released on Windows, but it doesn't matter now.  I play them on Linux anyway thanks to ProtonDB.  Yay!

Happy gamer buying cheap games.
