goodbye 2009

As I wrote last year, I hoped that I would be able to get out of debt in December 2009.  Until then, I had no money available for illness or car troubles.  As it turns out, my health did deteriorate, and I did spend about $1500 on car repairs early in the year (which went onto my credit card).

My get-out-of-debt plan eventually worked, but only after I got into a car accident and totaled my Mitsubishi.  (It was the other driver's fault.)  I replaced my vehicle with a less valuable one, a 1997 Mazda B2300.  I used the remainder of the settlement to pay off my remaining debt.  I ended 2009 with about $200 to my name and no debt.  Yay!

In 2010, I'm hoping to identify the cause of my health issues, and I'm rather hoping to become a programmer again.  Both seem within the realm of possibility.  I also need to get vehicle repairs done before my truck leaves me stranded somewhere.  As for priorities, there's really only one:  I hope both T'Reese and I remain alive for another trip around the sun.

Low standards make life easy.
