Someone pointed out on Facebook that the IRS has a $1000 cutoff point where penalties begin if you fail to pre-pay your national taxes. I haven't seen that fee mentioned before, so apparently Minnesota isn't unique on that point. :(

The forms are still far too complicated, though.
