activism can be low-key too

I saw the news that Costco overwhelmingly rejected the anti-DEI policies being pushed by the Trump administration. I wish I could easily shop at Costco. I've thought so several times during this car-less time of my life. Today, I finally told them so.

It was hard to find the proper way to email them my thoughts, but I went to the main Costco webpage, selected the feedback button, and chose feedback for the existing location where I last shopped very many years ago. I sent them the following:

There's a food desert in north Minneapolis. There is no open ground where you could place a store here, but there is the light rail construction, which will open access here from many other locations. Please find a location on this future route and build a CostCo store location! I will gladly join your customer base if you do. I have no car, so it is not easy for me to visit any of your other locations. And thank you for your continuing DEI work and keeping your employees happy.

If they set their mind to it, they could easily create a new location faster than I expect the light rail construction to complete. It would be super convenient, though, if I could walk 2 blocks from my house to the light rail and then ride to the store and back. Cheap food in bulk would also be good in this continuing food desert experience in north Minneapolis. That new grocery store still isn't open. I checked about 2 weeks ago, walking there and peering into the windows, but it doesn't look like they've even started furnishing the place yet. I called the phone number on their Facebook page and left a message, asking when they expect to open. Hopefully soon?
