That is so great to hear about! I can’t claim to know anything about immunology, but this sounds like one of the sorts of drug innovations made possible by all the technological innovations associated with gene and gene transcript and protein sequencing. My guess is that mast cells escalate the local response, so that’s what’s getting shut down.
But every immunology talk I’ve ever gone to has involved a billion signaling cascades and different cell types, so clearly, it’s complicated and we just have to be grateful to all the scientists immersed in immune research. (And we need to keep yelling at politicians to get back to funding research!)
