That's basically how we do it in Minnesota. Paper ballots, counted by machines, then counted by humans if needed.

If the New York lawsuit confirms that the vote results were incorrect, then I don't even know how USA law can handle the fallout. The results were previously certified (we had a whole insurrection 4 years ago, trying to prevent a certification ceremony). What is the legal remedy? I half-expect the U.S. Supreme Court to say that the only legal remedy is impeachment. And we already know that the Republican party will protect a Republican president at any cost. So we would have an obviously-illegitimate president continuing to do obviously-illegal things, and... logically that would mean civil war would be the only remaining solution.

On an unfortunately-related note, in this video, the speaker mentions Ukraine as a good example of how to react to Trump.
