just a few notes

I did some gardening today before the heat kicks in this afternoon. It's only 29C/85F at the moment, but I was still sweating. I dug up plenty of plants that annoy me every fall/spring when I brush up against them after they've gone to seed. They look nice when they flower, and the pollinators seem to like them, so I haven't eliminated them yet. But, like burdock, the seed pods hurt when they touch my skin, and they get tangled in hair on my arms, legs, and face. I finally looked up their identity, and they're Hackelia virginiana. The common names for it tell you all that you need to know: beggar's lice, sticktight, or stickseed. Some names really are "on the nose".

I tried using the weedeater to clear my garden path, but the battery ran out before I made it to the front gate. By then I was tired, so I put the battery on the charger and took a shower to end the outdoor phase of my day.

I weighed myself after getting clean. I am now down to 88kg/194lb. It's a new record for recent years.

It's probably not a good sign that I pondered job hunting again, or selling the house to move north and go to school, or spending my money to fix the upstairs windows and air conditioning, so I could take a roommate to help pay bills. I may write soon about why I think this job is so much more stressful than other tech jobs I've had.

I've made little progress painting. At least, though, I got another window primed, and both doorways scraped. And I bought a saw-on-a-stick and hacked off some limbs from the neighbor's tree that were pressing against my fiber optic line. Maybe now at least I won't lose internet (and ability to work remotely) during the next storm with high winds. It's still messing with my power lines which were out of my reach, but that'll have to wait until I can pay somebody to hack major limbs that cross the property line to my house and utilities.

I'm crap at setting boundaries with jobs because when I've tried, it has not worked out well for me. But I can't help thinking that if I did set boundaries and actually land on a better job when I got fired, that would be awfully nice. Sorry, that's probably not helping.

I'm so sorry the new job is so stressful; my red flag would have been (I think you mentioned a coworker stating) having 5 screens. NO one's brain is meant to handle that much at once. If you moved north, where would you go? Canada north, or northern MI north? MY oldest (in time, not age) friend lives in Ellsworth.

Have you ever read "The Circle" by Dave Eggers? What you describe reminds me so much of that.

Astronomy sounds like a wonderful way to spend your time!!!

Maybe the power company would come and trim the tree that is touching their lines. I mean, without a charge to you. For free. Maybe.
