Where The Wild Things Are

This movie is great, so go see it!

This film "speak" to me in particular because what I consider the best bits of the movie are accomplished without speaking.  Verbally negotiating social contracts is not at all what life is supposed to be about.

Oh, and you know that Maurice Sendak is gay, right?  I thought it just recently became public news, but this New York Times article is a year old already.

I went to the theater tonight (and paid only $5 for a 7pm showing, how did that happen?) intending to join the Minneapolis Movie Bears.  I didn't recognize anyone there, though, so I went inside and sat down on my own.  Men kept piling into the aisle behind me.  Listening to them, I suspected that they were "my group" that I had missed spotting earlier.  Eventually perkk came in and sat beside me.  He was the only face I recognized from the bunch.

Excellent movie.  I expect a few Oscar nominations for this one.   *expectant and imposing glare at Hollywood*

Did you go to Roseville AMC? They have $5 movies Tues thru Thurs or some such weeknight prices...

Ah, must be an AMC thing! I went to AMC Southdale. It seems like a really good idea. (Although I generally dislike the megaplexes because of the persistent advertising that occurs while waiting for the show to start.)

If you mean H1N1 (swine flu), then you could try encouraging people to become infected rather than hiding from it. Since it is apparently in the same family as the 1918 flu pandemic, getting the current (primarily nonlethal) variety would give some resistance to a new mutation of it that could be even more dangerous.

Coincidentally, I'm awake at this hour looking up info for the People's Clinic in Minneapolis. I think I'm going to call in the morning to schedule an appointment. The nerve issues I'm having are worse (and keeping me awake tonight), so maybe they can at least test my B12 levels cheaply to see where they're at.

I don't know why people are so afraid of this virus, must be all the media hype.

Yeah, I was up late waiting for the old ticker to settle down into a regular beat, I've been taking benydryl on the assumption it's an allergic reaction to something, it seems to do the trick, either by reversing an internal histamine reaction or by knocking me out.

I need to get a new allergy test, I also need to get this chipped tooth taken care of (which could also be the cause behind the irregular heart beat). I just can't afford to spend money just now, not without carrying credit debt until next May, which I'm loathe to do because the rates are so high these days. :ob

My credit card got the interest rate hiked in the last few days too. The companies are trying to get it done before the national legislation passes that limits their ability to do exactly that.

I wish I could tell them that since they've changed the terms of my debt contract, I am annulling the debt balance.

I heard some initial bad reviews from some friends, so I'm glad to hear that you and many others enjoyed the film. I've been looking forward to it since I first heard about it months ago. I'll try to see it soon!

Thanks. perkk also gave me a few handfuls of Whoppers to snack on. Yum! After the movie, I still didn't recognize any of the other Bears there, but there are so many people who do the movie events (and I attend so rarely) that it's not surprising I'm unfamiliar with the crowd.

The sound track suits the movie well, although there's nothing that I'll be singing later on my own. The visuals are beautiful and the costumes are excellent.

I heard that some reviewers didn't like the film, but I can't imagine what they disliked about it. I thought it was well done on all points.
