Yeah, at $40/month it does seem like buying (used) equipment would be the better choice. Problem is, the only place to put it is in the basement, and the basement is pretty much already full. :/
I'd much rather work out alone, though. I've experienced the mocking of gym rats, and I have no intention to repeating the experience. That's why Anytime interested me where other gyms wouldn't. I could visit them during the wee hours when their building would be empty.
The basement is a good choice, if I could find the right kind of cheap equipment and make space for it.
