Furry Friday
2009-Apr-17, Friday 07:00 amAnimals: This week (4/9 - 4/15), AHS adopted 276 animals out to new homes, and there were 265 adoptees the previous week.
I've written about Tiki twice before, and he's still looking for a home. He was moved from our Golden Valley shelter to Saint Paul to give him an opportunity to meet new potential owners. He still hasn't found a permanent home, so I wanted to bring him to public attention again. Our busy kitten season is almost upon us, and I'd be happy if Tiki found a permanent or a foster home soon. If you know someone looking for a cat, I still recommend him as a nice companion. He needs a home without small children, someplace that won't stress him out.
Easter came and went. We usually try to discourage holiday purchases of animals, since such matches are more likely to be as seasonal (temporary) as the holiday itself. Nevertheless I noticed that all but one of our rabbits were adopted from Golden Valley. (Here's hoping that they all have permanent homes and that people don't end up returning their "rentals" to us. *sigh*) The only rabbit left is Danni, so I thought I'd show her here on Furry Friday. She's a typical mostly-white rabbit with a brown spot of fur around her eye. I haven't spent much time with her yet, but she has seemed friendly enough with her other visitors that I've noticed.
If you want to visit them yourself, Tiki is in Saint Paul and Danni is in Golden Valley.
How to help: 1) There is a contest happening right now that you can influence if you're reading this note on Friday, April 17th. Ten finalists have been chosen for a "shelter makeover" (rebuilding/expansion). One of the finalists is a "Pet Welfare Partner" with my own organization, and we receive animals from them when they run out of room. Read here to learn more about the Humane Society of Barron County, and if you'd like to help them win the contest, you may vote for them through April 19th.
2) We are still in the midst of our own fundraising drive. I will be doing "Registration Processing" all day at the event itself. Wave hello if you see me May 2nd during the Walk For Animals. :) If you'd like to contribute money online, you may do so at my account:
