Friday was busy

Early in August, I went to a Powershell training class for work.  I exceeded my scheduled hours by a lot, so I've been taking Fridays off of work since then to reduce my total hours this month.  Yesterday was my last Friday away from work.

In the morning, I went out to the Minnesota State Fair.  I took the shuttle bus there.  The bus was packed, and I stood in the aisle during the whole trip.  I ate my usual fried pickles, fried cheese curds, and elk burger.  I visited the rabbits and the 2 alpacas.  I roamed the Ecological Living expo building.  I rode the shuttle bus back home.

In the afternoon, I drove out to the Minnesota Zoo.  My old database administrator had volunteered the two of us to help usher at a concert that night.  The band was Gaelic Storm, the same group that played music in the below-decks scene in the movie "Titanic".  I took tickets at the amphitheater for about 2 hours, then I sat and listened to the rest of the music for about 2 hours.  I couldn't see the band, but I could hear them well.  Nice music.

Close to midnight, I drove out to Riverside Theater in Minneapolis.  Some locals that I know were in the movie "Health Freaks", and it had its premier showing that night.  I got to see Matthew Feeney on screen (best actor in the show, in my opinion).  I sat in the theater with[info]cpj, and I briefly saw him on screen spewing some goop from his mouth as he was turned into a mutant after drinking Freakazoid Energy Drink at the gym.  I got a free pair of purple-striped zoobas that the producer was throwing out into the audience.  (One of the characters in the movie was wearing such pants.)  I'm wearing them at the moment.  They seem to fit well.

Came home.  Slept.  In a strange mood.  Not sure what the weekend will bring.

misc thoughts

re: boyfriend
Wanting but not having is unpleasant business.  I'll be glad when it passes (again).  I've spent too much time around people lately, I think.  A few weeks alone might help cool such thoughts.

re: health
My left leg hurts again.  It happens a few times a year because of a car accident that I had long ago.  I think it's a nerve problem (one among many) in my lower back that causes pain down one side of my body below my waist.  The only thing that solves it is taking a long soak in a hot bath while drinking a glass of whiskey.  I'll go buy the whiskey shortly and take my bath soon after.

re: democracy
Some people are thinking of new ways to conduct democratic conversation.  That's more optimistic than my recent ponderings.

re: civil war
My recent ponderings, however, continue to find justification.  Regarding militia training groups, ""This is the most significant growth we've seen in 10 to 12 years," says one. "All it's lacking is a spark. I think it's only a matter of time before you see threats and violence.""  Southern Poverty Law Center has a financial incentive (donations) to encourage fearful discussions, so their opinion should be taken with that small caveat in mind.

p.s. (3:08pm) Crown & Royal whiskey is expensive.  Thankfully, Mr. Bubble is not.  Leg is feeling better.  Now to lay down flat for a while to make sure the cure "sticks".
