Poor Marge

I hope these amoxicillin capsules do the trick.

The insides of my cheeks hurt no matter how gently my tongue brushes against them.  They look even worse.  Looking at them in the mirror convinced me that I needed to see a doctor today rather than waiting any longer.  The jawbone aches come in waves only occasionally, so they're not as bad yet.

The People's Center doctor agreed that it is some kind of infection, so we're trying this route first.  I bought some alcohol mouthwash (I normally use alcohol-free) to help kill the bad bacteria.  I bought some aspirin, and hopefully it will dull the aching.  I just took my first dose of it, so I guess I'll know in an hour if it works.

The doctor looked at my cheeks and said "Oh", then immediately asked if I smoked.  That reaction worried me, because my first thought about smoking is cancer (lung or mouth).  Luckily, I've never smoked a cigarette.  Then she seemed to decide that it was probably gingivitis gone rogue.  My gums aren't bothering me at all and my teeth are healthy, so I have my doubts.  Still, I'm hoping the amoxicillin makes whatever it is go away long enough for a visit to a dentist.

"Poor Marge.  She'll never hold a man until she does something about her breath."

The People's Center system has a "sliding fee" dental office, so I've already called them to try scheduling an appointment.  I only got their answering system, so I left a message.  I need to figure out where this infection came from. My guess is that my baby tooth has finally fallen apart and started deteriorating.  The only way to know may be to pull it, because it's hidden underneath a metal cap and lots of amalgam that was used to approximate the size of an adult tooth. I'd be disappointed to lose it, but I'd be glad to get rid of this infection.  I had hoped to die with my baby tooth still in my jaw, but I've lived many years longer than I expected.  Maybe time has finally run out for that tiny bit of calcium.
