chilly inside
2020-Feb-21, Friday 10:25 amI woke up this morning, and it was 8.8C/48F inside the house.
I spent too much time in the basement at the furnace being confused, before I finally figured out that the batteries had failed in the thermostat upstairs. I replaced them with some fresh rechargeables, and the house is slowly warming up again. A bit, anyway.
I just keep the thermostat holding at 19.4C/67F, since there's still too much air that just escapes out into the winter landscape anyway. I might use a timed schedule for even cooler temperatures when I'm at work or asleep, but I have a cat, fish, and houseplants, so that temp seems fine as a near constant in winter. On the main floor near the best air vent where the thermostat is, anyway.
It's a lot cooler than that upstairs with the drafty windows or in remote corners of the house with bad air vents.
On the plus side, it's supposed to get quite warm this weekend. The temperature should get above freezing today, and maybe even as high as 4.4C/40F outside during the next few days in Minneapolis. I expect to see people jogging, others with short sleeves, and people driving cars with the windows rolled down to enjoy the warm air at long last.
