I see that the Democrat plan of appealing to Republicans has worked about as well in 2020 as it did in 2016. How many times do I have to say that it's wrong to bring "the anointed candidate" (who literally promised that "nothing will fundamentally change") to an electorate hungry for a populist? Somehow, Trump found new voters. They're mostly white, sure, but he even gained among Black and Latino men.

6. A Large Percentage Of Americans Have Lost Their Minds

In mid-October, Bloomberg News reported that “the proportion of Americans dying from coronavirus infections is the highest in the developed world” — and yet exit polls show 48 percent of Americans believe their government’s efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic are going very well or somewhat well.

After a season of destructive wildfires and hurricanes, the same exit polls show 30 percent of Americans say climate change is not a serious problem.

Coronavirus, climate change, economy, healthcare, race relations.  People at exit polls don't see problems, or they even give Trump high marks on the topic.  Things are going well?  Part of me hopes that Trump does win, so the expected national economic and global political fallout of the last 4 years are placed squarely on Republican shoulders.  For half a century, Republicans have racked up huge national debt that Democrats have to pay off.  If Trump wins... it'll be hard for them to evade their comeuppance for the debt they created this time.

I do not comprehend the idea of looking around and thinking that our systems are in good shape... or better than 4 years ago.
