I really think the CDC change of directive is premature.  I blame a push from Biden and Democrats to show how great they're doing because everything is finally "getting back to normal", trying to appease conservatives who want the appearance of normalcy.  Look no further than the headline that HBO temporarily suspended production of the "Real Time" show, due to host Bill Maher himself (fully vaccinated) testing positive during weekly staff testing.  Now is not the time to give up restrictions.

The pandemic still continues across the world.  Even here in Minnesota, new cases and ICU hospitalizations are not at a great point yet.  NEWSFLASH: No percentage of people "eligible" for a vaccine counts as reaching herd immunity, when the ineligible people still contract and transmit coronavirus infection.

"Recently, the virus has been impacting a younger population – schoolchildren and younger adults – due to the spread of the B.1.1.7 virus variant, which originated in the U.K."

Moreover, the virus remains a cause of concern when a concentration of people (in urban areas) are well below herd immunity levels.

"While 71% of white people have received one covid19 vaccination dose, only 28% of our Black neighbors and 35% for our Latino neighbors in Minneapolis have one covid19 vaccination dose."
- Minnesota Attorney General, Keith Ellison on Twitter

Poor people, especially poor people with a history of mistreatment by government healthcare, need immunization opportunities brought to them and vouched by people they trust.  Thankfully, Minneapolis and St. Paul are still keeping the mask mandate.
