next week is election Tuesday

I already ignore my phone, but now I ignore it multiple times a day.  Strangers everywhere keep instant messaging or calling about the upcoming election.  Mostly all about Proposition 2, which would create a new Department Of Public Safety (under which the police would go). 

I think that all but 1 of my city council hopefuls have stated they are explicitly against Proposition 2.  They warn against eliminating the police.  They know that's a lie.  Even the police know that's a lie.

"The city of Minneapolis sent the following FAQ to police staff:

1. Will all of the police department employees be out of a job on November 3 if the amendment passes?  No. Current labor agreements will continue to be in place.
2. Will we have to reapply for our jobs if a new department is created?  No. Current labor agreements and City benefits will continue to be in place.
3. Will there be police officers in the new department? Yes. State law requires that certain duties be performed only by licensed peace officers."

They all know it's a lie, yet I have a pile of about 30 paper flyers from interested parties all trying to get me to vote a particular way on Prop 2, most of them repeating that big lie.

I'm voting FOR proposition 2 in Minneapolis next Tuesday.  I want a Department Of Public Safety.
