an update from the warzone
2022-Apr-13, Wednesday 07:50 pmMe: I think maybe 2022 will be as bad as 2021.
A guy who keeps track of this stuff much more fastidiously than I do says that we have just completed year 4 of continuous daily gunfire here in NOMI (North Minneapolis).
Today is day 1463 of the war on the block
As I type this, 4900 block of Logan, report of Gunfire to 911"

* A few hours ago, a school far north of me (about 20 blocks?) went into Code Red.
* Last night around 3am, I listened from my bed to an obscene number of bullets (50?) so far away that it was just at the end of my range of hearing. This evening, I still can't find any reference online to the event.
* A few days ago, somebody apparently was using an automatic (or semi?) weapon to fire a large number of bullets at a corner store about a dozen blocks from me and managed to hit a 14-year-old kid without killing him.
* A week ago, a reporter tried to do a story about the warzone while parked near the grocery store where I shop, but they rushed away with bullet holes in their vehicle.
* I'm annoyed frequently while trying to sleep in bed by listening to the surveillance aircraft flying low overhead at wee hours of the night. I've learned to use the FlightRadar24 website to track/identify them.
The point I've been trying to make for years (since Occupy or before) is that some of us live in a very different USA than the rest of you. We need meaningful change. It's long past time.
EDIT2: Apparently serious but not life threatening, despite all the ruckus outside.
EDIT3: Somebody posted the audio. It was a fully automatic weapon. No wonder the ruckus.
EDIT4: I called 911 on Friday night around 10pm because of a lot of shots just 1 block away, with the audio recording in a tweet reply.
