LolliMeow pet carrier
2023-Aug-31, Thursday 12:17 pmNot having a car is surprisingly easy when I work 100% remote. There are some things, though, that are difficult to accomplish without private vehicle ownership. Veterinarian appointments, for example. I switched my cat to wet foods entirely this year, since Hope had constipation issues last winter. Now, she's taken to a liquid-only diet. I give her wet food that she laps up, then she leaves all of the solid bits behind. She's losing weight very slowly as a result.
Our vet clinic is only 1.1km/0.7mi away, easily within walking distance, so we walked to the vet today. I used this LolliMeow carrier (stock advertising photo to the right, not my cat pictured) that I bought online. Of course, Hope wailed loudly the entire trip there and back. Plenty of concerned humans looked my way during our adventure.
The important point, however, is that it worked. The construction is solid and comfortable to carry. It's thick enough to help insulate in cold Minnesota winter but ventilated enough to be usable in summer. It has visibility in 4 directions to help soothe the transported animal as they look out to their surroundings. I think, though, if I were to buy something different, I would buy a product with a side entrance, so it's not necessary to tilt the backpack for Hope to walk out of it.
I can cross off one other worry about how to live without a car. This method is not the easiest solution, but it works.
