dream of work

This morning, I remembered a dream from last night that involved work.

I was in a building where other people were also congregated. Somehow, I found myself in conversation with a stranger. It was a man, and he had a slight accent as if foreign. Even though he didn't know I was with I.T. at the university, he asked me a question that was related to it. He was no longer a student, so he no longer had access to his old email account. An insurance company was asking him for some old emails, with information that might be relevant to a potential lawsuit they could file on his behalf (not against the university). I explained to him his options for getting access to his email. I was trying to find the telephone number that he needed to call to reach our I.T. help desk, since I don't have it memorized. I couldn't find anything in my wallet with that phone number on it.

And that was all. Not much to it, but it's still unusual that I remember a dream upon waking, so I wanted to record it here.

Unrelated, the main campus is closed due to weather this morning. I signed in, and my boss's boss told me I can sign out until 10am Eastern. So... here I am on Dreamwidth for now. Guess I'll go watch tv under the electric blanket for a while to start my day. I'll find out later if I'm getting paid for this enforced absence or not.

Edit 2024 Jan 16 5pm: P.S. The opening delay at the university was pushed from 10am to 12pm then to 5pm. They didn't officially "close" at the main campus, just delayed opening until 5pm. Strange. We were offered the opportunity to leave at 3pm when the 2nd shift people came in, but most of us stayed because it was too busy. I ended up leaving at 4:30pm Eastern instead of my usual 5pm end time. Not much of a short "snow day". Life as an essential employee can be boring that way. There aren't many real breaks in the work.
