gurgly gut
2024-Mar-05, Tuesday 04:36 pmI took my first sick day at work today. As I started my work day, my stomach just knew that it was pondering being upset about something, and it was considering which direction it might decide to eject its contents to show its discontent. Mild, but annoying. I worked a few hours before deciding to give up. By the time noon rolled around, local time, I had already run to the bathroom half a dozen times.
Breakfast didn't settle things, and after 3 hours and a few trips to the bathroom, I decided to call it quits for the day at work. I didn't want to get stuck in a phone call and need to quickly exit. By then, I searched for Pepto-Bismol to see if it would soothe my stomach. I found a generic brand with some medicine still in the bottle. I started to pour it then realized that it was solid, stuck to the sides of the bottle. I checked the expiration date, and that bottle expired back in 2013.
Who knew that pink stuff eventually solidified? I figured it would be like Twinkies, keeping an it-almost-seems-edible form indefinitely. We learn something new every day, eh?
I skipped lunch, a decision which I believe kept me from running to the restroom this afternoon. I took my temperature a few times, but it never showed a fever. I've spent a few hours this afternoon watching another BL drama at Viki, listening to my very gurgly gut. I haven't decided yet if I'll eat anything for dinner either. Surprisingly, I'm not even hungry yet.
I didn't eat anything unusual last night. I threw out the remainder of the lettuce today, though. The news stories make it seem, somehow, that it's almost always the lettuce that goes bad. No more lettuce for me this week.
