a weekend update

My "weekend" did not go as well as hoped.

Yesterday, the service tech from the Center Point Energy utility company arrived. I was expecting them to do some hot water heater maintenance. Instead, they recommended that I drop the summer maintenance plan, because I don't have anything useful that they can do for me. I don't have central air conditioning, and I don't have a dryer whose vents might need cleaning. The website didn't mention how to drop anything at all, so I sent a message to their customer support to do it. No action yet.

Also yesterday, the micro-route bus didn't have any routes available for the trip home, so I walked again. The majority of trips now leave me stranded at the grocery store. They just don't have enough buses or drivers or something. My opinion of the service is dropping. I can't even guess what will happen at the end of this year when the 2-year test period finally ends. Will they drop it, or will they have an even harder time finding drivers/buses to maintain even more routes?

Today, a rep from Russco arrived to make second measurements of my windows. I learned they cannot do the replacements that I intended, swapping double-hung and casement windows as I wanted. All windows upstairs have to stay the same style as before, due to egress requirements. My windows are just too small. *sigh*

At the moment, I have no water service at my house. It's a planned outage for the utility work that crews are continuing to do in my area. I guess they didn't have to delay due to some warzone drama behind my house this week. (More on that topic on Monday, with photos.) At the moment, there is new concrete drying in the alley behind my house, surrounding the replaced drain. They're increasing the size of the drainage pipe significantly. I saw the pipe they're installing under the street near my house, and it was at least twice as large.
