a house update
2024-Jun-14, Friday 07:09 pmIt's 7pm on Friday, the end of my "weekend". I'm showered and ready to relax for the evening in front of the tv, before getting up early for work tomorrow. I took a few days off work earlier this week too, but I still can't say that I completed my house painting for the year. So close. It would've gone faster if I could labor more than an hour or two without needing to stop and sleep for 2-3 hours after the exertion. It was a reliable reaction and very inconvenient.
I got every ground floor window (and some of my skin) painted with white primer after scraping off paint as well as I could. I painted only the patio windows (which are large) with the same turquoise paint as last year's doors. I planned to do the other two small windows in turquoise after work soon, except the forecast is for rain during that time frame for many more days to come. I'm not sure when I'll finally be "done" with the manual painting. I'll take a photo when it's complete.
I'm not doing the eaves. I'm not doing anything on the second story. I'll hire somebody for all of that. I didn't injure myself climbing ladders during the last week (well, not more than minor cuts that I can't really explain, or the many mosquito bites that I expected), but I know better than to try painting at awkward angles at the top of a ladder or on a very steep roof. Too much of a klutz, too dangerous especially since I live alone. I will not attempt it. I'll pay someone to do it. I could check around for someone to do it this summer, but I already have window replacements planned and dislike the idea of multiple simultaneous deviations from daily life.
