hornets in the house

Life has been much too stressful lately. Besides the workload (which is still too high from semester start) and other stuff, today was marred by hornets buzzing around my head all day while trying to work at the computer.

I finally got one of them into the freezer, after it landed on my water cup, apparently seeking water. It took a few tries, but I vacuumed up the other one with a small handheld vacuum. After work today, I emailed a nearby company to ask if they can remove a hornet nest from inside a house. The first company I checked specifically said only outdoors nests.

At lunch break today, I roamed around the basement, and this time I finally spotted that nest. If these companies can't remove it, then maybe they can at least poison it, since my two different spray cans of over-the-counter stuff have done nothing at all to them when shot into the wall opening they use outdoors.

If these small companies can't do it, then I guess I call Orkin.

Edit 4:45pm: Wolf Pest Control says they'll do it, so now it's just a matter of scheduling.

Edit 2024 Sep 05 Thu: The painting estimate representative walked around my house this morning. I called attention to the hornet nest and that I had an exterminator coming tomorrow. He called attention to another place they are entering my house, on the 2nd floor at a crack at the other bedroom. Ugh. I emailed the exterminator to let them know my needs have changed.
