passing bureaucratic hurdles in Minnesota
2024-Oct-07, Monday 04:50 pmLegal marijuana is slow to arrive here in Minnesota. Despite legislation legalizing the sale of recreational marijuana products, I think the only legal recreational (as opposed to medical) sellers are still two different native American businesses on their reservation land. Still, though, change is coming. Would-be sellers should get their opportunity for a license late this year.
A major hurdle for the light rail project has finally passed, with 4 cities accepting the proposed path of the rail. Here are the proposed station locations, and the one for "Penn Avenue Station" is about 3 blocks from my house. (Fun fact: This is the same street corner where some fool fired shots at the Minnesota National Guard who were stationed here during the riots. He was caught and sentenced to 8 years in prison.) The light rail will make it very easy for me to get to the University campus from my house, supposing I ever reach retirement someday. Also useful for getting other places I need to go for errands. For instance, I have a refund check that I need to deposit at the bank, and I haven't made the trip in a few weeks. The light rail would take me directly there. Life without a car will be more convenient on this side of town.
