i am out of jail today

mellowtiggerI am supposed to still be in my 36-hour hold stage for probable cause, when release is prohibited so police have time to gather more evidence. But Thursday night the Hennepin County jail in downtown Minneapolis filled up. I heard a guard saying "The jail is full," around 3 or 4am while trying to find beds for more guys in our already-at-capacity cell of 15 guys. So today they gave everyone a "street release", dumping us out of the front door, so they can fill up the beds with a brand new crop of profit generators jailbirds. Because of the weekend timing, I should have been in jail for 5 days instead of just 2.
Why was I jailed? I will not comment at all on my experience at the homeless camp that bright and early morning until I find a lawyer and deal with the court matter still pending. I will, however, offer some local news on the topic. In particular, notice the mention of a "large number of police". Yowza. SWAT overkill.

I had no idea while I was in there that Twitter (and MeWe) remembered us, encouraged people to speak up for us, and noted the terrible waste and militarization of the whole eviction effort. Now that I'm out, I very much appreciate these efforts.
I got zero sleep last night, and I had 2 hours of sleep the night before, so my mind is not at its best right now. I will try to rest appropriately tonight and maybe tomorrow write up my experience inside the jail, after I first make an attempt to find a lawyer. I sure hope I remain COVID-negative after this experience.
