It's been a long time (too long) since my last attempts at astrophotography. Here in Minnesota, though, it seems like either the sky is overcast (like now), or the temperature is sub-freezing (like now), or the mosquitos run rampant (I'm always a favored food banquet, it seems). The light pollution here, as in any metro area, is awful too.

Images like this, though, are spectacular. Here's today's photo from a NASA site. It's Monument Valley in Utah/Arizona. The bright blue star on the right is Rigel, the bright red star in the middle is Betelgeuse, and the brightest red "star" on the left is Mars. (Click the image for the link to NASA's webpage.)



Someday I'll make it out to a place where I can see skies like this again.
