I like my solution, fix them and put them in a big zoo like enclosure to fend for themselves yet be protected from larger animals/cars/environment. A big glass greenhouse dome perhaps, toss in the unwanted birds and rodents in there too. Let nature take it's course.

I for one find euthanasia monstrous, we don't put our family to sleep when they have become a burden or their end-life becomes painful.
