family councils and social change

America has a national family council (called the American Family Association). They promote fear and various -isms or -phobias. They blame homosexuals for the destruction of family life. If everyone listened to them, quite a few families would be broken up just by definition.

It is AFA’s goal to be a champion of Christian activism. If you are alarmed by the increasing ungodliness and depravity assaulting our nation, tired of cursing the darkness, and ready to light a bonfire, please join us. Do it for your children and grandchildren.

Singapore has a National Family Council too.  They speak of opportunity and pride.

We are passionate about anything and everything that makes Singapore a great place for our children to play and grow, for couples to establish homes, and for parents to enjoy their children and grandchildren.

Listen to this video they are using to promote their agenda.  It's also well-worded to be queer friendly to any who listen for that message.

Why is it that in America, the conservative message about social change is based on fear, loathing, and repression while the liberal message about social change is based on hope, education/example, and encouragement?

One theory that some Canadians have concluded about some of the weirdness we see coming out of the States is that it's a culture based on competition (at least in recent history). Instead of your neighbour being a potential ally or friend, your neighbour is automatically your competitor. This manifests in many ways. You can't let your neighbour do well because that will mean that you will not.

Hrmmm. Could be. It is worrisome, though, when I see them export their mindset elsewhere to try it out in a new "market". Very odd (and sad) that others have to fail in order for some to succeed.

I've read one European commentary that even our board games work that way. "Monopoly", for instance, whereas popular European games tend to be much more cooperative.
