sign o' the times
2008-Jan-29, Tuesday 02:16 pmBack in late October (I think?) when I first started visiting the local Minnesota Workforce Center, I parked on the second row and that row was half empty. Then in December I started having to park on the 3rd row. Then in January I was on the 4th row. Today, I went in and had to troll around to wait for someone to leave so I could take their parking spot in the overflow lot. Other people weren't so lucky, so they were parking on nearby residential streets and walking to the government building.
Afterwards, I went to visit my State Farm agent who was pestering me for a visit. I hadn't seen the guy in many years. My coverage (already minimal) went up by about $5. I already have discounts because of X years (more than a decade, I don't remember how many) without a claim. I'm guessing they're reviewing all policies these days to try to eke out a few more dollars here and there.
On my way home, I noticed that the PetsMart sign is gone. Not the "We're Staying!" sign that was up for a week or so, but the "PetsMart" sign. They've closed the business at this location.
"Is A Recession On The Way?" *slap forehead in disgust* These are supposed to be bright people reviewing our economics, but they really can't tell until long after it's already been here. *disappointed sigh* It'd be like the National Weather Service predicting Hurricane Katrina after noticing all the flooded out windows in New Orleans. How screwed up is that?
I picked an extraordinarily bad time to be job hunting.
