Stanford experiment
2008-Feb-28, Thursday 07:08 am(thanks to
jpeace for providing the heads up on this story)
I took a sociology class a few years ago in which we saw a video of the original Stanford prison experiment, a study in how people (ab)use and respond to authority in captive situations. That experiment was led by psychologist Philip Zimbardo who is today offering a kind of followup lecture at the TED conference based on information from Abu Ghraib.
Wired magazine has released early photos and video. Warning: definitely not safe for work!
It's worth a few hours of your time to wander the TED website and watch the videos there. I look forward to seeing Dr. Zimbardo's presentation when it's finally uploaded.
