local: sliding scale dentists?

I need to find out why my mouth became infected last week. The People's Center has a new dental service, and I have an appointment for May 31st at 9am. I had to wait so many weeks because they are only at half staffing level. My penicillin prescription will run out long before then, and I worry about a recurrence of the infection unless I find the source and repair it.

The People's Center places the sliding scale message prominently on the bottom of their webpages. My new boss at work sent me two other clinics that he thought did sliding scales, but neither Metro Dental Care nor Park Dental webpages mention anything about it.  They offer creative ways of paying the full amount, but they don't take donations to cover costs for other people.  Apparently Fremont Health used to do it, but they are now Neighborhood HealthSource and don't mention dental services any more.

I know I lost most of my readership when I moved to Dreamwidth, but does anyone here know of Twin Cities dental clinics with sliding scales that I could visit sooner rather than later this month?  I intend to call the University clinic later today, but hopefully they won't be as booked (because of student population) as the People's Center.

This is finals week at the U of MN, so most of the student population will vanish. It's possible that will affect the student dentist population as well.

I went to the U of MN for most of my dental work when I was younger. It was the only thing my family could afford.

p.s. Oh, and I had to call several times (I even left a message once) before reaching a live person. They are also booked out for 3-4 weeks. I may attempt a walk-in at 7:15am on Monday, though.

I had very little luck with finding a referral from friends for inexpensive Dentist, Metro got negative feedback, and U of M isn't as cheap as one would expect a school to be.

Please let me know if you find something. And I'll let you know if I do too.

I called UofM a few times and finally reached a live person. They are booked out until June 1st also. They do have "walk ins", though, and she suggested arriving at 7:15am for a chance at one of those spots. I may give that a try on Monday, when I'm supposed to go back to working fewer hours.

As expected, I'm not really going there often any more to login and read my feeds, so I'd miss seeing comments there. (I'm slow enough sometimes reading comments here, too.) Too many people there use Friends-only posting, so I can't add a feed for their public blog here on Dreamwidth either.

I prefer a single place for catching up on the news. I would like, though, for the possibility of watching my feed in different "modes", so I could classify some of my reading page as "people" and some as "news". (ponder: maybe I'll move any "news" feeds I watch to Thunderbird instead?)
