EQ2 milestone

I'll be glad when someone finally makes a good MMO that doesn't even have any levels, but for now these companies seem to like the level treadmill.

I don't usually participate in it. EQ2 lets players disable experience that they would normally get from combat victories, allowing a character to stay at the same level for much longer than usual. I've done that with Larell for most of his career, enjoying the extra time to explore a region and do all of its quests rather than leveling himself out of any use for a zone in just a few days. I like exploring every nook of a game world. That takes time.

Taking advantage of the experience bonus holiday weekend, however, I managed to get my first character to max-level (adventure) in Everquest. I never did that in EQ1, but I finally have in EQ2. He made max-level (tradeskill) in Alchemy a few days back.

I celebrated by logging out and going to ride my bicycle for 2 hours. :) I think tonight I may walk over to the local theater and spend some money to watch a simple feel-good movie, "Wall-E".

WALL-E

I got a shower (was stinky from the earlier bike ride) and then walked over to the theater. It wasn't full, but I was glad to see a crowd there. Maybe this theater will survive for many more years to come. Quite a few people had their cell phones out, recording the guy playing the Wurlitzer organ up front. Lots of kids in the theater, most of them well behaved. The one exception also had ill-behaved parents. *sigh*

The movie was good. Much less dialog than normal. Quite enjoyable.

I was surprised that more than half of the audience stayed to watch the credits. Apparently a lot of people really liked the movie. Most of them even stayed to the very end of the credits. You'll know the end when "the logo" appears. You'll know which logo when you see it. ;)

Afterwards, I picked up a Lavender in the lobby on my way out.  Stuck it in my back pocket for later reading once I got home.  I walked next door to the Dairy Queen (owned by the same gay guys as the theater, I think) and picked up a Peanut Buster Parfait. Then I walked back home, eating my ice cream, watching the sunset with just a sliver of a new moon in the sky. Startled a rabbit that had come outside to forage in the dusk.

Got home to a quiet house and a waiting cat.  A pleasant evening. I could get used to this business of all my roommates being out of the house at CONvergence. I am jealous, however, that they're all probably watching the new Dr. Who finale tonight and I'm not.  *grin*
