mellowtigger: (absurdity)
I stayed indoors as much as possible on the Fourth of July holiday. Today, though, I read about the election rally event in Washington D.C.

"I’ll never forget where I was when I heard The Forgettysburg Address."

"Trump should’ve started his speech with: Four whores and 7 lawyers ago."

Reagan had Alzheimer’s while he was in office, and both his coworkers and his political party kept him there anyway. Trump, on the other hand, I think he is suffering from syphilitic brain damage.  The usual culprits (office and party) refuse to acknowledge the problem again. I don't mean my diagnosis as a political jab. I mean it literally. I think he had syphilis decades ago, refused to get it treated properly, and now he has actual brain damage.

Stop reading when these symptoms become uncomfortably familiar...

General paresis
General paresis is a problem with mental function due to damage to the brain from untreated syphilis.
Symptoms
Syphilis infection can damage many different nerves of the brain. With general paresis, symptoms are usually those of dementia and may include:
  • Memory problems
  • Language problems, such as saying or writing words incorrectly
  • Decreased mental function, such as problems thinking and with judgment
  • Mood changes
  • Personality changes, such as delusions, hallucinations, irritability, inappropriate behavior

Do you recognize the covfefe in these United Schhwates? We already know he's a germophobe, a narcissist, and that he continues to use a board certified but nevertheless quack doctor since 1980, so it's really within the realm of possibility that 30 years ago Trump refused to seriously treat an infection. He egotistically refused to accept any diagnosis that was "icky" because then the truth would haunt his personality, and his quack doctor coddled him.  The primary symptoms seemed to go away, and now we're all witnessing the end result of the remaining infection.

The words that actually came out of Trump's mouth at the event:

“In June of 1775, the Continental Congress created a unified army out of the revolutionary forces encamped around Boston and New York and named after the great George Washington, commander in chief. The Continental Army suffered a bitter winter of Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown. Our army manned the [unclear], it [unclear] the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do. And at Fort McHenry, under “the rockets red glare,” it had nothing but victory. And when dawn came, their star-spangled banner waved defiant.”

There are so many errors here, so let’s jump right in...
... It’s as if he didn’t even know what was in his own speech or understand what he was saying. Which leads us now to a very familiar state of not knowing whether or not to laugh or be extremely worried at the mental state of the President of the United States.

Took over the airports?!  Rammed the ramparts?  Yes, there are plenty of major policy issues to complain about (another Cuarto De Julio holiday, just like last year, for example). Yesterday's Forgettysburg Address speech, however, deserves its own medical mention.

If you need some amusement to counter the horrifying realization that we have a syphilis-addled president, just read the #RevolutionaryWarAirportStories hashtag on Twitter.  At least we can find amusement in this tragedy playing on the world stage?
