climate change, activism, autism, and old women

Jane Fonda has a long history of political activism. She talks here about the impact of 16-year-old Greta Thunberg and other young people in the Sunrise Movement in motivating the actress to get involved on climate change. "They recognize that older people are robbing them of a future that's livable."
She appropriately refers to the science behind the urgency. "There's only one way to be sensible, and that is to read -- is to study the science. The scientists know. And just the other day, 11,000 of them issued a warning, saying there is no question that the Earth and its population is facing a dire catastrophe."
Here is the whole 10-minute segment on YouTube, beginning around 45:40.
Jane goes on to encourage other 81-year-old women like her to go out and protest. "What have you got to lose?" Maybe it's something more of a privilege than she realizes. No poor people will travel cross-country to get arrested.
I agree with the urgency, though. Attention everywhere needs to be focused on Issue #1. This election may be our last opportunity in the USA to get leadership in place to act before the approaching deadlines pass us by. We need our goals already accomplished and behind us within not too many years. Acting afterwards won't help nearly as much as acting now.
