It's hard to believe it's been slightly less than 3 months since I started working at my new job. It feels so much longer. My stomach still complains when I think about work. I'm getting better at the job, and I'm getting faster at it, but... hell week begins soon.
Arrivals for the fall semester have already started. This week was a lot busier than it has been all summer. We also had a lot of people out on vacations this week, using up time while they still could. Vacations are discouraged next week and forbidden the week after that. Additionally, there's a sign-up sheet for overtime. If things get truly awful, then in addition to your own shift, you get to work extra hours too. *sigh* To avoid getting "voluntold", I signed up for a 6-7am shift on a Monday and a 4-6pm shift on a Sunday. Hopefully I won't get called, but this week was bad by the numbers, so I expect the first week of fall semester classes to be awful.
I don't know what to expect of my mental fortitude. I'm sure I'll make it through this month, but I don't know if I'll be willing to continue longer. We'll see how it works out. Meanwhile, I've avoided spending much money on the house, saving my money just in case I need to end this job.
I've also avoided outdoors this week. No house painting, and almost no gardening. I enjoyed the dip in pollen counts during some rain, but my sinuses are rioting again. I can probably blame the grass, thanks to numbers for Minneapolis from pollen.com.
