Well, amidst uncommonly warm December weather in Minnesota (so I can't just set stuff outside to freeze), my refrigerator has decided to stop operating properly. The motor still runs, but it's not properly cooling any more. I already scheduled service for next Thursday. I've checked before, but I never found any obvious coils to dust off. Everything is behind metal panels, both front and back.
From the serial number printed inside my General Electric fridge, this code appear to say that mine was manufactured in the year 2011 (or 1999). Either way, it might not last much longer.
Where are the sonic cooling devices we were promised 20 years ago? Does anyone have suggestions for good quality replacements, with the biosphere in mind (for reducing atmosphere pollution and energy use), so I can choose something as eco-friendly as possible?
