This marks week # 51 of my new job. It has become hectic again, so I haven't had the spare mind to post much recently. Finals are this week, so many callers are more stressed than usual about whatever the issue is.

There's another job opening, and I've been "encouraged" by coworkers again to apply for it. It's Sun-Thu 10am-7pm. That's a very odd schedule. I could do it then indulge with late sleeping, which would be a nice change from getting out of bed at 6am. It's also a nice pay boost, which would certainly help pay for new windows upstairs. But it says minimum requirement of 2 years relevant experience, but I only have 1 year with most of the systems we use. I dunno. I'm conflicted. The posting doesn't mention when it closes. I hate having to submit resumes and cover letters.

In unrelated news, I hurt myself after work today. It's been raining off-and-on in Minneapolis for much of the last week. It's currently not-raining but wet outside with overcast skies, so I took my garbage and recycling out. I slipped on some mud and fell. I spared my chin the worst of it by blocking the fall with my hands. That's the wrong way to fall. In the spur of the moment, however, I never remember any better way to fall. I should've learned ages ago, considering how much practice I get, but I didn't learn that useful skill.

I used soap to wash off the two areas where I broke skin, put on some antibacterial, then two bandages. I cut my left inner thumb, which will be fine. My right wrist is aching already, and we'll see how that turns out. My right knee will have a really nice bruise on it tomorrow where I rubbed off some skin on the brick pavement, and it just aches a bit right now. My chin was spared almost any contact.

I feel for you having a nasty tendency to fall a lot myself particularly since having a minor stroke a couple of years ago and having degenerative arthritis in both knees (they tend to either lock up or just decide to collapse without warning)

I hope second-day injuries aren't too bad....

If your coworkers are encouraging you to apply for it, and you want to, do so. Requirements are more like guidelines. One person might learn more in 6 months than another would in 3 years. If they think you're qualified, then there's no harm in applying.

Congratulations on living through 51 weeks in this job, and getting such consistently high praise. Good luck to you on the new opening; if you get it, I hope it will be a better, happier position for you.
And sympathy on the fall.

I am sorry about the fall. And you should apply. I love the 10-7 schedule, you miss traffic and get to sleep but still have enough time at night for night things.
