I ordered 2 window replacements

The guy with Minnesota Rusco just left. I've ordered replacements for 2 of the worst windows+frames. It was more expensive ($1500/window) than I first assumed ($1000/window), but the quality definitely seems worth it in the sales pitch.
I'm getting Sunrise KR90 triple-pane krypton gas infused windows. The energy efficiency makes this stuff look ideal for northern climates, and I think the extra insulation in the frames should also make a huge difference in this corner of the house. It would cost a small fortune to do all of the windows, but... I think that's now my long-term plan. If I did that, then I imagine that temperatures indoors would be a whole lot better throughout the year.
I'm also switching from double-hung to casement windows for both of them, which also will help a lot with drafts. I'm even expecting the better seal to make a small difference in box elder bugs that make it into the house. They swarm outside that corner of the house, forming living sheets on the fence and side of the house. I would enjoy having fewer of them inside.
Anyway, I wrote a check for the first half today. I write a check for the second half after the work is completed. I already transferred money from savings to make sure the total can get covered when the checks clear. Hopefully I'll get all of the work done before the Minnesota State Fair arrives. That seems to be a particularly busy season for them.
Meanwhile, I've taped up the broken window again and will wait for a scheduling call in a few weeks.
