getting old

At some point, I may have to admit that I'm simply too old for this any more.

I spent an hour or two in the back yard, shoveling then sifting dirt to remove most of the rocks, moving a few more blackberry plants... then I had to come indoors and rest.

I suddenly woke up 3 hours later.

Ugh. I never had a "strong" body, but this is getting ridiculous.  I'd hate to think that 52 years old is already too late for redesigning a landscape.  I applied for the Minnesota state Lawns To Legumes program.  I paid to attend the online training session.  I intend to make this happen.  I am turning my property into prairie instead of pointless grass.  It's already paying off.  Yesterday, I saw a rabbit in my back yard, here in a densely packed housing area.  I want more environment for nature to make a home here.

I've observed enough "older" (hey! we're "older"!) gardeners to know that it's far from over, you just have to pace yourself. But also there's another thing I've been reading about, the nervous energy we're expending is making a lot of people tired in itself - the repeated rush of stress hormones especially.
