a few blooms to start summer 2021

A few early bloomers are already fruiting. I'm trying to water the dwarf cherry tree frequently, hoping to get red fruit this year finally. Every previous year, it has dropped all the fruit early. Apparently that's something that cherry does when it's nervous about its water supply. As of today, the old flower leaves are dropping off, and tiny green "eggs" are forming as fruit. I hope they survive.

The horseradish is impressive. Big beautiful leaves, and a very noticeable gathering of flowers. Yesterday, quite a variety of flying insects were visiting those flowers. I didn't try harvesting the root last year, but it's obviously happy with Minnesota winters. Apparently they like the cold. If it seems to spread at all, I'll definitely pull up a root to eat.
An iris is starting to bloom, even after separating a clump and relocating it a few weeks ago. I hope to see it spread even more. I like the colors.
I wish I knew for certain what variety it is. It looks exactly like "On Mulberry Street" from the photo in this siberian iris collection that I bought in 2018. Unfortunately, when I search the web for that variety now, all of the photos are much deeper purples and no blue. So who knows what it really is?
Some of the strawberries are blooming. A few raspberry flowers are beginning to open today for the first time. This dwarf thornless raspberry is a very slow grower, so it doesn't overtake an area like some others do. I brought some of these with me from the previous house (where I rented a room), and they still seem under-represented in my front yard after half a decade.
Roaming the garden and staring at flowers like a dullard is very relaxing. I like my garden.
