misc short updates
2021-Jun-28, Monday 06:05 pmGiven the popularity of Spiderman and his wall climbing ability, I guess I expected actual spider climbing to be more impressive. I had to rescue a little spider from my kitchen sink today. I saw it in there on Sunday, and today it kept falling backwards in its attempts to escape the water spray and soap suds. I scooped it onto a dry sponge and left the critter outside on the back porch.
My local Cub grocery store keeps abandoning products that I like. It was stuff that was often on the shelf only as a label but no actual product. I assumed that emptiness meant they were very popular products. I guess I was wrong, because now they're just gone altogether. First it was the Garden Of Eatin' red hot blues then their plain blue corn chips. Now it's the Tai Pei chicken fried rice. It was excellent with added curry powder and red pepper flakes. I'm disappointed by these changes.
Did anyone else take the Steam summer game sale's Forge Your Fate questionnaire? It's 14 questions long and involves a lot of reading. I don't really know what qualified me for my particular badge at the end, but I got The Paranormal Professor badge (pictured at left). At least it amuses me, even though I don't understand what choices it represents. What result did you get?
This is my 2nd week of taking extra vacation days at work. My mental condition is definitely improving, but I need to get back to job hunting. That's also time consuming work. I said goodbye today to our receptionist. She won't be back by next week when I'm back in the office again. *disappointed sigh* I think her layoff is the least reasonable in this 2nd round of them.
I didn't sleep until after 1am last night. Loud yelling. Fireworks (both the usual visual kind and the ones designed only to generate a nerve-shattering cannon kaboom). Fireworks were bad last year, but everyone really got an early start on it this year. I wish it was illegal to sell them in Minneapolis, since it's illegal to use them. I want to just stay unconscious all day for July 4th. I'm already stressed by thinking about it.

Yes, I paid for 3 things:
1) The Bard's Tale IV
2) Verdant Skies; it looks similar to Stardew Valley, which I like a lot
3) supporter pack for Solasta: Crown Of The Magister, because their work is good quality, and I just wanted to help out the continuing development a bit more
Hmmm. I liked Myst so would probably enjoy Obduction. FAR looks really interesting. (And they are working on a water version of it.) I'll pick that up now. I do really like the recurring sales. I've picked up almost every computer game I ever played (pre-Steam) during sales.
P.S. Okay, I picked up FAR and also The Outer Worlds. I don't normally like first person shooters, but that game is currently 60% off, and Jimquistion who normally tears apart game faults instead practically sings its praises.
