I don't want to move and leave this house. It's counter-intuitive, I know. Life here in the #WarzoneInMinneapolis is stressful. On Friday, I listened to an unusually long (more than half a minute) exchange of various gunfire only 2 full blocks east from my house, and that was less than an hour after previous exchanges about 5 blocks farther east.  And that was after Tuesday's detonation of loud kaboom fireworks about 1 block away, for no celebratory reason that I could guess.  Plus all of the lesser gunfire and commotion that's just the usual background noise here.

my back yard in Minneapolis after a week of thawing, about 2 inches of ground are now softStill, though, I want to stay. I've spent years slowly adding plants to my back yard. I want to eat apples and cherries and blackberries from my yard. I want to make a Christmas candle from the bayberry bushes that I planted long ago but are growing so very slowly. I want to watch the rabbits and squirrels and birds. I want to finally spot the raccoons that visit my yard. I want to dig the low point into a formal pond for the frogs that also live here.  I feel too old to start over elsewhere.

Given the chance that I may leave in only a few weeks, though, I'm trying to "finish" the path in my back yard. I was going to put tiles for the path, but I've changed my mind and will use them to border the path instead. I want the main path to be full clover. Today, I spent some time rolling up the black plastic that I laid down last year to kill the last untouched grass. The ground has thawed unusually fast this week, about 5cm/2in deep.  It's still quite frozen below that point.

Does this initial "draft" path look straight to you? Or does it veer a bit to the left?

And did anyone ever foolishly make spoons out of lead? I retrieved this very heavy spoon from the yard. Quite sturdy, with a square handle instead of flat.

well it is not ancient and it is not lead, so if you wanted to you could clean it up and use it.
As far as I can tell from the picture your path looks straight to me

The handle being thick is probably what makes the spoon heavy.
The path looks straight to me too; maybe the gate isn't in line with the back steps.
