when political humor is good

mellowtiggerI still intend to write a post about humor when it is bad, and what that disruption means for politics.
Here, though, is a great example of comedy done right. This video is from last night's White House Correspondents' Dinner at the USA capitol. Trevor Noah perfectly praises while simultaneously skewering people in power on both sides of the political spectrum. It's usually aimed at an ethical sore point, some hypocrisy gone unpunished. The laughs continue from the first minute to the last.
I especially like those "book ends" to the whole speech. It starts with a completely justified rant at everyone's COVID denialism and the deadly #UrgencyOfNormal on display there. It ends with a measured challenge to the Fourth Estate to do better.
