This is dream #7 for 2022.  It's weird that I should be so old before experiencing so very many dreams that I remember upon waking.  Sleeping/waking on no defined schedule really is excellent for my brain function, it seems.  I wonder what harm is done upon human psychology by our human civilization's permanent artificial schedule?

In my dream, I am driving across Texas.  I'm part of a caravan of cars going to some destination that I don't remember now.  I'm driving my actual real-world rust bucket car, so I'm not sure it will survive the speeds and distances we are going.  Luckily, one person (someone I knew in high school from my real life in Texas) suggests that I detour with him to use smaller back roads and slower speeds.  We leave the main caravan and take these other roads, which are better for my old car.

At a hotel during a nightly break in our travel, I encounter a man in a restaurant.  It's someone that I knew (within the dream) in the past, an old brief lover.  He happens to be a vampire.  He is using this hotel tonight to drink briefly from many people and using his supernatural hypnotic charms to make them forget.  They heal quickly without noticing because I think he's using medical needles to drain blood rather than biting.

We speak together a while, and I offer my blood to him too.  I trust that he intends not to kill people, although I don't remember (upon waking) what our actual history is together.  He seems distracted, though, and I'm not sure if he does actually drink me or if he's made me forget, which my dream self thinks is unlikely.

Turns out, he has people following him.  One is his current jealous boyfriend.  Nothing has happened between us for many years, so I accurately deny the accusation for any tryst tonight and am somewhat baffled by the interrogation.  One is a pair of hunters, a man and a woman, intending to kill him.  This time, I deny knowledge of his vampire status, which is a lie intended to save him, but I think they believe me.  Nevertheless, I warn the vampire later that they are following him and perhaps watching us now.

We say goodbye in the parking lot, before dawn, as I begin the rest of my trip in my old car.

And that's it.  I've been watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer reruns on television recently, so that's probably why vampires and hunters showed up.  Not sure why someone from my old high school made a brief appearance, though.
