I've lived for the past decade in Minnesota. One of the state's well known nicknames is "The land of 10,000 lakes." But the locals enjoy adding, "... and ten billion mosquitoes."  I've gone camping out here and regretted it. Mosquitoes and horseflies during only two days left my body covered in more than 70 bloody itchy mounds.

That was bad enough. But who knew that bloodsucking pests could grow so huge?!

And butterflies and moths always pass as such beautiful, inoffensive creatures in the lore of such vast amount of cultures around th world! lol I began to suspect they were NOT so inoffensive when I did learn of a predatory butterfly caterpillar in the Hawaiian Islands some years ago! VERY interesting, my Biology students will love this! :o) Thank you for sharing dear Terry. I have posted the photos of the birds I promised btw. Warmest hugs and a HAPPY HALLOWEEN btw too, Luis.

"The Land of the 10. 000 Lakes", I was there on my way to North Dakota back in the late Autumn of 2004 and escaped the mosquitoes fortunately, but man, it was COLD!
