Darkfall: dark side Clan?

I'm excited by the little information I have about Darkfall, and it's supposed to release (in Europe) on January 22nd.   Some of its features:

• there are no levels
• every item in game is craftable
• no world chat channel
• only one character per server
• there is no stealth
• there is no tab targeting, aim your weapons/spells as in Oblivion
• friend fire, so be careful with your aim
• total PvP
• full loot privilege on all corpses

It's a total PvP world with full loot rights, so soloing (my usual method) is ill advised!  Are there any other gamers working to create a clan on the "dark side" of the world?  I see that Realm Of Kirdain is already on the move, and that's a great thing!

Unfortunately, I plan to play Mahirim because the idea of dropping to all fours and running as fast as mounted characters is just too fun an opportunity to pass up.  :)  And being Mahirim means that I'm going to be kill-on-sight for any dwarves in the area, because some nice crafting resources will be mined in an area between our two kingdoms. So.... I need a "dark side" Clan to play in. Mahirim would be best, but Ork or Alfar might suffice. Any one else playing for the other team?  ;)  I'd really like to arrange before the game release to share our planned character names and possible Clan name. Judging from the horrible forum chatter, I'm guessing that Darkfall will be a very painful gankfest when it first starts up.

Just so you know... I'm lousy at PvP. I'm joining this game to be a crafter because that's really my "thing".

Can't say I am terribly interested, but I have been considering trying EVE Online again once I'm settled. I hear the new graphics are incredible and they now have a Mac client.

EVE has a lot going for it too. I got far enough to start flirting with the uncontrolled ("null") space zones. What has me interested in Darkfall is the lack of levels, lack of world chat, and that every item can be crafted by players. I've been wanting that set of features for a long time. Sadly, the total PvP with full loot is something I dislike about games because they have no way setup for players to actually establish their own rules about behavior. It's all based on the idea that you just gank someone back if you can. *blech*

I'm not quite ready to make the leap back into EVE yet, but I'm still pretty interested. Darkfall does sound like it has a nice twist on how other games are played. Think you'll post about it again?

The game was delayed for a month. Whether or not it actually releases in February is anybody's guess. I'm sure I'll write about it in Livejournal once I have the opportunity to experience the actual gameplay.
