signs of life after the solstice

My Christmas cactus bloomed for Christmas.

That's a nice feat, since it wasn't forced by a corporation trying to sell the product at a store. It has just sat in my window for ages already and decided on its own to bloom right on schedule. You'll have to take my word for it that it was beautiful. I kept forgetting to retrieve my phone to take a photo. So here it is near the end of its wilting blooms.

The temperature was about -22C/-8F this morning when I got up. It stayed cold the whole day, but it should get a bit warmer tomorrow. I didn't shovel snow last night, so I did it after I got home from work at the office today.



Don't eat the yellow snow. ;)
