2022-May-05, Thursday 09:30 amMy poor old body just can't get a break. Last night, while eating a Bellatoria gluten-free pizza (they're actually pretty good for gluten-free), I broke a molar. Yes, another one. It was only a few months ago that I broke a different molar and had to get the side built up for it. And that was after the tori bone protusion through my gums last September. My face bones are conspiring against me.
This tooth had a filling in it, which is now exposed. I couldn't get my smartphone to focus inside my mouth, but I think you can see in this photo that the whole bottom-right corner here is missing its bone, and the exposed amalgam is shiny where it should be covered by tooth.
Thankfully, there's no pain (yet). I drank lukewarm water through a straw last night while trying to keep the tooth covered with my tongue. I guess that'll continue for a whole week until my appointment on Wednesday the 11th. I see lots of bland Soylent shakes in my immediate future.
Apparently I waited a few decades too long to get a specially fitted mouthguard to wear at night. I've spent my whole life grinding my teeth since I was a little kid. Hence the tori that developed and prevent any regular mouth guard from fitting. It seems that my molars are quite shallow now. They break on pizza crust. Coincidentally, I have an appointment to see a dental surgeon at the downtown hospital the following Wednesday, on the 18th. He's going to see what it would take to get me fitted with a mouth guard finally.
And all these issues are freaking me out a bit, since American healthcare is inexplicably tied to employment, and my employment officially ends in 4 weeks.
There are just too many simultaneous crises happening these days in USA daily life. I want off this ride. I wish I could move to a civilized country like Canada, but they don't accept any immigrants with an autism diagnosis.
