a mental moment

This year, I have been avoiding outdoors near my home like the proverbial plagues of actual covid and gunfire.  Today, I finally mustered the mental energy to prepare my sidewalk for easier shoveling of snow this winter.

• I dressed for yard work (overcoming the mental barrier).
• I gathered the equipment (overcoming the mental barrier).
• I picked up the trash in the front yard (congratulating myself for overcoming the mental barrier).

I picked up the battery for the weed eater... and it was dead.  Apparently I won't be clearing the sidewalk of plant growth to make snow shoveling easier.  Not just yet, anyway.

I plugged it into the charger and gave up.  I sure hope 2021 is better.  This year sucks.
