It's weird that we don't have snow on the ground in Minneapolis this year.

snow in Minneapolis on 2020 October 21We did. It arrived early (pictured at right) in late October, before Halloween. We got a very noticeable amount, and I had to shovel my sidewalk a few times, but that was many weeks ago.  It eventually melted.

Since then, nothing.

Local news has noticed and created maps showing just how rare the current lack of snowfall is for our state of Minnesota.

In other words, those areas have had Dec. 10 snow depths that were higher than this on 95% to 99% of the years in their weather records.

The Twin Cities metro area and most of central and southern Minnesota are in the 5% to 20% percentile for Dec. 10 snow depth. We see more Dec. 10 snow cover than this in 80% to 95% of the years in our weather records.

Not that I've been taking advantage of the nicer weather than usual this winter.  I've been spending all of my spare time online in a game.  More on that later.

This one year where I don't have to care nearly as much about bad road conditions because I'm staying at home, and we're not getting a heavy blizzard.

I am disappointed.
